Do you know how to write a good CV? There are many articles on the Internet with various advice on what to include in your CV, but each position you apply for requires different information. In this article we would like to tell you what you as a driver should pay attention to when preparing your resume.
Basic data are those that will allow us to contact you: name and surname, contact telephone number, e-mail address. Does the driver have to add a photo to the CV? Not necessarily. We are interested in your experience and skills, not what you look like.
Speaking of experience.. There are a few details that we would like to highlight.
Dates
It is important that you provide specific periods in which you worked in a given company. The month and year of start and end are enough. Often, writing only years isn’t giving accurately reflect on your experience. By stating it in the manner "2013-2014", the recruiter is not sure if you have a year of experience: January 2013 - January 2014; whether the month : December 2013 - January 2014.
Name of the employer
The name of the employer is so important that before you start working with us, we check your references, so we need to know where we can call. If the CV includes the name of the employer it becomes more professional and legible
Type of trailer
There are many types of semi-trailers, from curtains, through refrigerated trucks to cisterns. When conducting the recruitment process with you, we want to find the best job offer for you, one in which you already have experience, and you will feel good.
Responsibilities
Usually it looks similar in every driver's seat, but there are differences. A distribution driver warehouse- store, for example, deals with loading and unloading goods, which is not done by a driver riding a hook lift, but his duty is to secure the load with a special net, which again is not the responsibility of a person driving a tank and so on.
Countries you drove on
If you are an international driver, you have got to know different countries and different roads, there are certainly countries that you are willing to drive on, as well as those to which you return reluctantly. The most important thing, however, is in which countries you have driven and where you have experience. When looking for a job offer as an international driver, such information will definitely speed up and facilitate the recruitment process. Especially if the work concerns routes in England and other countries with the left-hand drive direction.
Goods you drove with
You do not have to break down for every single route, you can use generalities such as: fruit and vegetables, packages on pallets, wood, steel, building materials. This information is enough for the person opening your CV to know what you have already dealt with and what will be new for you.
The rest of the information in the CV is the same as for any other job. It is good to add the last school, courses taken, current driving licence categories or language skills, although we check it in practice.
If the above-mentioned information is missing in your CV, you will certainly be asked about it by our recruiters during the interview, however, including them in the CV facilitates the recruitment process on both sides, and you, as a candidate, become more professional and skilled.
