Driver's guide - How to use the time on the road to your advantage?

2

According to the European Parliament's regulation on the harmonisation of social rules in road transport, every driver is obliged to take a minimum break of 45 minutes after a maximum driving period of 4.5 hours. Although not a long time, you can make good use of it.

Find out our ways to manage your travel time well.

Short physical exercises

Long periods spent behind the wheel are tiring for the whole body, and even more so for the spine and legs. That's why we recommend taking a few minutes for a quick series of relaxation or stretching exercises. The exercises will improve your circulation, and reduce muscle tension and stress levels. The trailer has many handles, levers, and hooks that you can use as part of your activity. Alternatively, you can focus on basic activities - and do a short series of squats or jumping jacks, for example.

Go for a walk

Walking is a double benefit for you - you get to take in fresh air and light fatigue helps you fall asleep faster. By walking you will see more of your surroundings. If the area is attractive for tourism, you can even see and visit interesting places during your time off.

Have a meal

Why not? Eating out can be a real pleasure, especially when local restaurants offer many types of regional dishes, products, and drinks. Go out for a walk, discover new places, and expand your taste horizons!

Do you prefer to cook on your own? If you look around, you will also find interesting local products from which you can create a good meal.

Reset

Driving requires constant attention, sight, hearing, and reaction to the road. When stationary, you have a choice. You can turn off the engine, close your eyes, and listen to silence ... or music that relaxes you. A short nap is also a great way to relax. When you get up, you will feel relaxed both physically and mentally. It's a way to reset your body in a way.

Unwind

Modern technology offers many opportunities, and thanks to its constant development, you now have access to millions of song catalogs, audiobooks, ebooks, podcasts, or games. It's a shame not to make the most of it!

Prefer to do something good for the mind?

Nothing prevents you from developing your knowledge and skills even on the road. With access to the internet, you are able to explore theory on any topic of interest. Think about what you are really interested in and plan activities before you set off on the road.

Example? If you're interested in photography, it's easy to combine learning with practice by photographing interesting places on your travels. We recommend this activity even if you don't have a particular knack for photography! Thanks to the photos, the beautiful places you have seen will stay in your memory forever.

Focus on what is important

End of the drive for today. It's time to think beyond work! For the sake of keeping your mind fit, it's worth remembering your loved ones and friends and planning a quiet moment to talk about today, the weather, or life. Being closer to the people you value can make you feel less lonely.

Breaks along the route are vital for the body to function properly, which is why regulations have been put in place to give you time to stop and rest. It is up to you how you use this time. You have a variety of interesting activities to choose from, which, if well planned, will allow you to recuperate, take care of your health, good mood, or satisfaction through development.
