Are you going to work as an international driver? Then there are a number of things necessary to take with you in your truck. If you forget something about this, it may just be that you do not reach your final destination within the agreed time. Of course you want to prevent this. That's why we're happy to share the most important things you should always have with you when driving internationally.
Personal documents
Firstly, it is important to bring your passport or identity card, otherwise you will not cross the border at a check. Once on the road, you can also be checked abroad for compliance with driving and rest times. As a driver, you must have all data from the past 28 days with you. It is therefore important to have this in order. Another not to forget pass is of course your driver's license with valid code 95.
When you work (temporarily) abroad, an A1 statement is important. This is proof that you are and will remain insured in the Netherlands. Without this statement you are not allowed to work and drive in countries of the European Union.
Documents for your vehicle
In addition to personal documents, it is also important that you think about documents for your vehicle. This includes an original registration certificate and an insurance certificate (green card) for your truck.
Fun and comfort
Okay, enough about necessary documents, passes, etc. The ride should of course also be fun! There are normally plenty of places to stop along the way, but that is not always certain in times of the current pandemic. Before you leave your home, it is therefore important to prepare well. Unfortunately, this means that you can no longer always enjoy a cup of coffee that you buy on the road. Therefore take enough food and drink with you. A good tip is to look at kitchen appliances in your truck. This way you are no longer dependent on roadside restaurants and you can still drink a nice cup of coffee when you feel like it.
Now that you also live more in your truck, it is important to keep your mobile office tidy. For example, make sure you have a mini trash can and some cleaning supplies to keep your cabin tidy during the international ride.
Covid-19 has reduced contact with people on the road. It is therefore important that you can enjoy yourself well when you have a break or when you do not have to load and unload your truck yourself. Download fun series on Netflix, or some fun games to pass the time.

Do you have a little more time? Go for a walk! Exercise is always good for you and you get to see nice places where you would otherwise never go. Are you sporty and do you like cycling? Sometimes it is an option to bring your bike! For example, on days when you have to wait a long time, you are more flexible to visit places and it’s healthy!
